Canada Issues 1800 Express Entry ITAs in 2024

What is ITA?

The Department of Canadian Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship (IRCC) manages the immigration, refugee, and citizenship process in Canada. Periodically, a formal invitation is issued to the Entry Express pool candidates. This time the draw was for Skilled Professionals for their Permanent Residence (PR). This was issued on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

The Procedure:

  • Entry Express Pool (EE):

To begin, the first step is to make an Entry Express profile on the IRCC official website. To set up the account, the applicant needs to provide relevant data e. g work skills, education, work experience, and language capability. The applicant is now in the EE pool.

  • Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS):

The applicants in the EE pool are evaluated using a point-based approach. It uses information from the applicant’s profile, including age, education, employment history, and language proficiency. Following review, each applicant is ranked from highest to lowest based on their CRS score.

  • Invitation to Apply (ITA):

The IRCC periodically holds ITAs to award PR to highly qualified applicants. The most recent draw took place on October 23, 2024. 1800 ITAs were issued to trade-specific workers. Applicants who received a CRS score of 433 or higher and met the criteria for trade occupations were awarded ITAs.

  • Receiving ITAs:

Each applicant now has a 60-day deadline to finish their PR application. This application contains crucial documents, such as police character certificates, work experience letters, proof of schooling, and language test scores.

  • Application Review:

IRCC will verify and attest all documents. The applicant undergoes various background checks for Security Screening, Criminal Record Check, Health Screening, identity verification, Fraud Detection, and Past Immigration History investigations to ensure the submitted documents are authentic and unforged.

  • Biometric Appointment:

Applicants need to attend a biometric appointment. In the appointment, fingerprints and photos of the applicant are taken for record purposes. It’s an obligation to bring a copy of the biometric instruction letter, valid travel documents, appointment receipt, and identification paper.

  • Medical:

Applicants are required to schedule and perform a medical test. For medical purposes, the applicant’s fitness status is verified by various tests. The primary goal is to ensure that no applicant is carrying any contagious disease that can then affect other citizens and bring harm to the country

  • Processing Time:

The current goal is to process all PR applications within six months. This reduces backlog and reduces waiting time for applicants. Reducing process time means less stress for the applicants.

  • Decision:

IRCC officers will review the documents submitted for authenticity and in case of approval, a Confirmation of Permanent Resident (COPR) is issued to the applicant. It provides evidence of their new status in Canada as PR citizens. On the document personal details are mentioned along with the applicant’s photo.

In the case of disapproval, applicants are informed of the rejection through a rejection letter. This letter elaborates on the reason for the disapproval. Mostly rejection is due to incomplete documents or due to complications found about the applicant during background checks.

  • PR:

Successful applicants are notified of their approval for permanent residence (PR) and receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) document. These applicants can now move to Canada and start planning their shifts. PR expires in 5 years, and the holders must renew their PR before its expiration.

Conclusion

Those who get their PR as skilled workers in Canada, means potential opportunities await in multiple sectors in Canada. The detailed and transparent visa process means that a mutual benefactor relationship is formed where not only the worker is provided with world-class opportunities but also the country benefits from the worker’s actions as it helps their economy positively.
